Obliteration is a split release with Brazilian band Pandemmy and Italian band Abscendent. Holy shit folks this is some of the best death/thrash metal on the fucking planet! It starts of with 5 tracks from Pandemmy. They have an intense and evil chaotic classic death metal sound with a great dose of thrash thrown in. The lead singer Rayanna Torres will rip your face off with her brutal and amazing vocals. She’s right up there with the greats like Sabina Classen (Holy Mosses), Angela Gossow and Diva Satanica (Blood Hunter). She’s relentless and drives home some of the most brutal and darkest yet clear and precise guttural death metal vocals I’ve ever heard. The lyrics are angry, political and eye opening like true death metal should be. Track 3, “Unwitnessed” is full of truthful lyrics that people need to hear and take to heart. “Rich people breaking laws, but poor people are born condemned. Black people live sentenced minorities are renegades”. Those ring true here in the USA as well. They do an awesome cover of Motorheads “Them Not Me” I think the messiah himself Lemmy would tip a jack and coke to it as well. Pandemmy are just fucking awesome check out their other releases as well.
The second part of the split comes from Abscendent. These guys inject their own amazing dose of death/thrash metal. They have a more technical and progressive feel with throat slashing vocals and an almost primal drum sound reminiscent of classic Sepultura. They slay every track with headbanging and mosh pit inducing riffs and slamming bass. The leads go from fast as hell thrash to dark and technical death metal. Some of the rhythms and leads have an almost Voivod feel to them. The pure hard-hitting saturated distortion gives them that classic death metal sound. On track 8 “Relinquishment” It seriously brought me back to immortal Chuck Schuldiner and Death. The amazing technical lead work and intense vocals have that heavy and evil sound and feel. These guys hit a complete home run here and will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Over all both bands are fucking amazing and thanks to Sangue Frio Productions for getting these two metal behemoths together. This a must have for all death metal freaks. This is currently only available on the digital platform so go and get it!!!
